For starters, this was the iconic photograph from the most recent Winter Olympics in Vancouver, a shot that the photographer clearly prepared for but timed beautifully.
It is as eye-catching of a shot as you can imagine, with the depth added by the crowd yet a singular focus on the snowboarder shooting through the rings. In terms of page
antry, you have all the necessary images of creating that Olympic mystique — most notably with the dominance of the rings.
The only thing missing is a huge torch over the entire thing.

Another really cool shot, only this one takes even more creativity.
A level of creativity not many people, including myself, have.
The photographer took a simplistic, well-lit shot into an eye-grabbing work of art by shooting Australia’s World Cup team by way of a reflection pool. The idea grabs the attention, changes the perspective of the shot and makes the reader look more carefully at what is going on.
By still showing the feet of the players, it gives perspective — seeing the feet on the actual ground and the faces in the pool. Pretty cool stuff.

I figured it would be best to not have all three photos from sports,
and I found this photo in Reuters quite interesting and ironic.
The shot was taken in Kuwait City as workers sweep sand, which seems to surround for miles and miles, off the red carpet in preparations for France’s president.
The shot gives the impression of impending technology in a uninhabitable landscape, a modern-day oasis. The workers appear to be working in vain, trying to make the destination presentable to the incoming outside world.
The irony, and the colors, caught my eye.
